Senior Services - Office for the Aging of Chautauqua County
Caregiver Support Program:  716-753-4781, 716-661-7781, or 716-363-4781

In home visits, counseling, and resources for caregivers as well as:
     • Monthly Support Groups:  North and south county locations.
     • Monthly Newsletter:  Articles and information especially for caregivers
     • Friendly Visitors:  volunteers who call or make home visits.
     • Respite Care:  In facility or day programs, call for more information.

Health Insurance Information Counseling & Assistance:  Unbiased information and counseling about Medicare and other insurances; assistance to make informed choices about health care.  Comparisons of prescription drug plans, other insurance plans, and assistance with enrollment.  Call for appointment.

Home & Community Care Services:  Funded services to keep older adults safe and independent as possible in the community, including housekeeping, personal care, adult day care, and personal emergency systems.  Cost sharing may be required based on income.

Home Heating and Adaptation Program:  Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP):  Helps low income seniors pay heating bills; emergency benefits (help with disconnection notice, lack of heating fuel, furnace repair or replacement.  Annual application required.

Meals on Wheels/Home Delivered Meals:  Hot/cold Noon meal and cold supper available based on needs; cost based on ability to pay.  In-home assessment to determine eligibility. New referrals need to call NY Connects (716-753-4582).

Senior Safety:  OFA works with community partners to keeps seniors safe.

   911 Cell Phones:  Free, available for emergency 911 calls only.
   Blue Light Program:  Flashing blue light for your window helps emergency personnel find your home.
   CarFit:  Safety check-up for you in your car; tips on how to drive safely for as long as possible.
   Lifeline: Personal Emergency Response System alerts first responders.
   Operation RUSH:  Bracelet or necklace worn by memory-impaired individuals prone to wander.
   911 Rural House Numbering Project:  Signs with glow in the dark numbers; call Sheriff to order: 716-753-4900.
   RUOK: Computer generated phone call checks on seniors, emergency contact called or help sent directly if needed.

Adult Day Care Services:  Socialization, activities and care for seniors who should not be left alone.
