Westfield Family Physicians is participating in Doctor’s Office Quality - Information Technology (DOQ-IT). DOQ-IT is a national initiative designed to promote the adoption of electronic medical records, or EMR (also commonly referred to as electronic health records, or EHR) for the purpose of improving patient care.

This initiative is sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and IPRO, the quality improvement organization for New York State .

Every year, more and more healthcare professionals are switching from paper to EMR.  Westfield Family Physicians began the transition from paper records to EMR in the Summer of 2005.

The EMR helps your healthcare provider to remind you when you need a check up, access your record quickly in an emergency, reduce medical errors and keep your record safe and private.  DOQ-IT is helping your team of healthcare providers at WFP to further develop the design of our EMR to improve the quality of care, patient safety, and efficiency of services provided to our patients.
