The practice of medicine could not happen without research. Westfield Family Physicians is the parent company of another company called Great Lakes Medical Research. 

Great Lakes Medical Research has participated in a number of clinical trials with the National Institutes of Health, Duke University/Research Triangle, Clinical Trials Network at Columbia University , University of Buffalo Medical School, and the Cleveland Clinic Cardiovascular Coordinating Center . Great Lakes Medical Research has also worked with a number of pharmaceutical companies.

Great Lakes Medical Research’s team has conducted phase II-IV clinical trials specializing in a variety of therapeutic areas including but not limited to:

• Type II Diabetes Mellitus
• Hypertension
• Hyperlipidemia
• Cardiovascular Disease
• Urology
